This Sunday in religious education, our children and youth will hear a story about the sun and moon, explore inner spiritual peacefulness as well as peaceful relationships within the world, host a breakfast party, explore Amish culture and attend worship and discussion.
This Sunday our RE Ambassador is Jeff Frank.
Nursery will be open and staffed by Rebecca Pickens and Coral Pondysh.
Spirit Play will hear the story “I Love You Sun, I Love You Moon”, a violet promise story which asks us to value our home, Earth, that we share with all living beings.
Teachers: Sara Bentley-Garfinkel and Arthur Freeheart
Moral Tales will be introduced to non-violence as an aspect of goodness which is integrally connected with justice. Through hearing a story in which a boy holds the wellbeing of a bird within his hands, and playing a game in which participants are encouraged to think about non-violent responses to conflict situations, the children will be encouraged to be peacemakers.
Teachers: Eileen Wheeler and Becky VandeWater
Maker Space will create a breakfast and explore details about one of the GAYT guests. We will make our own smoothies and toasted bagels.
Teachers: Ruth Baltus and TBA
Neighboring Faiths will start exploring Christianity in the Amish tradition. Karen Johnson-Weiner will present details about this faith tradition.
Teachers: Rajiv Narula and Lorraine Olendzenski
Youth Group will attend the worship service and discussion immediately following to learn about Whitney Young, a UU African American civil rights leader who worked within the system to effect change.
